Dr. Greg McFetridge

DrMcFeteridge

Partner

B.Sc(Ag) University of Alberta 1967

Greg is one of the founding partners of the Crestwood Veterinary Center. He and his original partner Peter Martin started Crestwood in 1974 as a mixed large and small animal practice. Greg and Peter divided the practice a few years later, with Peter concentrating on large and Greg on small animals. The clinic was originally located in the old Crestwood Shopping Centre. In 1992, Greg and Mary decided to buy land and build a freestanding clinic. The new Crestwood Veterinary Centre opened in its present location on January 2nd, 1993.

Greg has a wealth of experience and a wide variety of interests in veterinary medicine. He is particularly drawn to ophthalmology, dentistry and dermatology.

He was born and schooled in Lacombe, Alberta, where he met his wife Maureen. They have three grown children, Patrick, Michael, and Katy, and six grandchildren.

Greg is a lifelong horseman and has been involved in the esoteric sport of competition cattle cutting for over a decade. He had great early success with his first cutting horse, Disco, and now competes at an advanced level with Disco’s successor, Dash.

B.Sc(Ag) University of Alberta 1986

Mary always knew she wanted to be a small animal vet, but put her ambition on hold to study commerce and pursue a career in business during her twenties. In 1982, she decided it was time to return to university, first to study sciences and then veterinary medicine. She started working at Crestwood in 1982 as a volunteer, joined the staff as a veterinarian after graduation from OVC in 1991, and became a partner in 1992.

Mary has a particular interest in animal behavior and handles most of the centre’s behavioral consultations. She also likes internal medicine. She has served as a board member for the Edmonton Humane Society and the veterinary representative on the City of Edmonton Animal Control Advisory Board.

Mary was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She moved to Edmonton with her family when she was sixteen. She has one child named Scott, one dog named Tessie, a Dandie Dinmont terrier, and one three legged cat named Tippy. Mary is also a lifelong horse person, and spends as much time as possible exploring the river valley trails with her horse Ginger Snap.

He is the proud father of twin daughters, Ashley and Brooklyn, and has three dogs, Lexi and Vegas, who are boxers and Pekoe, a Boston terrier.  The family also has a cat called Mr. Snuggles.
